HYPER ACTIVE NSAM
The National Shooting Association of Malaysia is one of the most
active sport associations in the country. It is just about the only sport
association in the country that organises six national level championships
every year. They are Ally T. H. Ong President’s Trophy, Tun Hanif Trophy, Tan
Sri S.M. Yong Trophy, Selangor Open, Tun Tan Siew Sin Trophy and the National
Championship.
Its hyper active role has benefited senior and junior shooters
alike as they can take part in more championships to hone their skills to
higher levels.Of late, NSAM has encouraged its affiliates to relieve the
Selangor Shooting Association’s burden of traditionally organising all the
six championships.
Sabah and SSA have responded by taking on the Tun Tan Siew Sin
Trophy and Tan Sri S.M. Yong Trophy respectively while Johore has also
answered NSAM’s call in previous years. This is in addition to the state
championships that NSAM’s affiliates have to organise. Coupled with international
championships such as the Sea Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games,
Olympics, World Cup, state and national shooters are never short of
championships to whet their competitive spirit as they are now shooting
virtually the whole year round. |
